Top grade in the National Students Machine Design Competition-2019

The National Students Machine Design Competition-2019 was held in Pyongyang University of Architecture from Sep. 23 to Sep. 26.

Ri Yong Jin in the 6th grade, Ri Kwang Guk in the 5th grade, Jang Kang Guk, Pak Kum San in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Mechanical Science &Technology, Kim Chung Jin, Hong Chung Bok in the 5th grade of the Faculty of Mining Engineering, Kim Son Ho in the 5th grade, Hong Kwang Hyok in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Materials Science & Technology, Pak Mun Song in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Metal Engineering won the top grade in the individual and team competition, as a result the university on the top grade in combined record.

To this competition were drawn 280 odd students from 46 technical universities including Pyongyang University of Architecture and Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering.

As in last year the competition was divided into individual and team competitions.

The individual competition was to evaluate the ability to draw within 4 hours the complete product that satisfies the static and kinetic characteristics by drawing and editing the 3-dimensional assembly drawings of mechanical devices available in different fields of the national economy and by inserting the constraint and load characteristics and making 4-dimensional analysis.

Pak Mun Song in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Metal Engineering completed the task assigned 110minutes after it starts, and were followed by Jang Kang Guk in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Mechanical Science& Technology, Hong Kwang Hyok, Kim Son Ho in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Materials Science & Technology, Hong Chung Bok in the 5th grade of the Faculty of Mining Engineering perfectly completed the problems, thus winning the top grade with the highest scores that considered the time up.

The team competition was to perform within 5 hours the large amount of multi-dimensional design tasks including the optimization by MATLAB, simulation optimization design by ADAMS, 3-dimensional modeling of mechanical device and editing of drawings that guarantees the manufacture, operation reliability, control simulation of the whole mechanical device and general architecture and the strength optimization design of parts by SolidWorks, the automatic cost calculation of the entire parts and in particular the analysis of the natural vibration of the general assembly.

Ri Il Myong in the 5th grade, Pak Kum San in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Mechanical Science & Technology, Kim Chung Jin in the 5th grade of the Faculty of Mining Engineering succeeded in completing the 3-dimensional design and highly automatic container transshipment equipment of 220 parts and 82 kinds and the 4-dimensional simulation analysis that is based on simulated machine control, its optimized products and impeccable assembly drawings and the results of the cost calculation after 90 minutes, thereby having the honor of winning the top grade.

Ri Yong Jin in the 6th grade, Ri Kwang Guk in the 5th grade of the Faculty of Machine Science & Technology who prepared the high-level homepage for design competition for its successful performance also won the top grade.

Our University that has won such successive top grades for ten years as last year displayed the powerful ability as the eldest son university.
