There was an occasion when the officials working close to President Kim Il Sung planned to solve only one problem by depending on a doctor. Their intention was to persuade President Kim Il Sung not to expose himself to the harmful gas of workshops any more during his field guidance to factories and enterprises. At the request of the officials, the doctor asked courteously, “President, could I ask you not to go into gaseous places any more? You are not young enough now.” As if he guessed the story of the doctor’s request, the President fell into deep thought. After a while, he replied: I appreciate your request, but it sounds like you ask me to live like a noble of old times. I don’t like being separated from people. I should take the trouble to visit every dusty or gaseous place to find a way to prevent harmful dust or gas. Alienated from people, our existence is useless. Consequently, the doctor’s suggestion was rejected, which meant the failure of the officials’ plan. After that, whenever he learnt about the existence of harmful working places during his field guidance to factories and enterprises, the President made it a rule to go into them to take measures as before.
