Beautiful flowers and memorial greeting cards our mothers are given on Mother’s Day are associated with a touching story. One day in September, Juche 101 (2012), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Pyongyang Floriculture Institute. Appreciating the beautiful flowers in full bloom, he said affectionately that as the Mother’s Day was nationally enacted, it would be wonderful to congratulate mothers with those beautiful flowers. After that, one day in November when the Mother’s Day was drawing near, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said to an official that congratulatory cards for sale for the Mother’s Day that year should be well designed and well printed like New Year Cards. That is how our mothers were given various kinds of beautiful flowers and cards from their sons and daughters on the first Mother’s Day in Juche 101 (2012).
