On Apr. 1, held was the opening ceremony of teaching staff and students of the university for the coming academic year.

Before beginning the ceremony, the teaching staff and students laid baskets of flowers and bouquets before the mosaic portrayal of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il (which had been built in the university) and paid sincere tributes.

President Hong So Hon made an opening address in the ceremony of the new academic year.

He mentioned in his address that officials, teachers and students of the university had launched the general offensive for thoroughly carrying out on-the-spot teachings of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, upholding the noble idea of our Party on making a leap forward by dint of science and guaranteeing the future by dint of education to achieve marvellous successes one after another in educational and scientific work and studies in the last academic year.

He said in his report that they could train a great number of creation-oriented and practical talents and scientists with strong revolutionary spirit and high faculties of inquiry and application by creating and introducing a lot of efficient and superior teaching methods in the last academic year to meet the demands of the knowledge-based era that is rapidly developing

He said with great passion that they had had the honour of receiving scores-odd times of appreciations of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and messages of thanks of the Party for making great contributions to brilliantly translating instructions of Chairman Kim Jong Il and noble ideas of the Party into reality by resolving successfully lots of scientific and technological problems arising in the realization of putting the national economy Juche-oriented, modern, IT and scientific footing.

The fact was also mentioned in his report that in those days there emerged lots of state medallists and awardees of degrees and titles including the state top-honored scientist for the year 2018 and awardees of Feb.16 Sci-Tech Prize and they received a number of diplomas and certificates including the state patents and certificates of sci-tech achievement records.

He continued to say in emphasis that all officials, teachers and researchers, in this academic year too, should raise a fierce wind of establishing the habit of studying and researching and improving ability with a high ambition of being authorities in their major fields without parallel in the world and the world scholars, bearing in their minds the teaching of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un that talented personnel and science and technology are our strategic resources and weapons and should make great achievements in the cutting-edge scientific research which will contribute to the building of the economic power and improvement of the people’s living standard.

He said that students should study harder and harder with a great dignity and pride of studying at the eldest son university of the state and the revolutionary university that trains the motive force of our revolution so as to prepare themselves fully to become creation-oriented scientific and technological talents with strong revolutionary spirit and high faculties of inquiry and application and scientists faithful to the Party and revolution.

Followed was it by resolution speeches of Choe Chang Guk, a first-grade student of Applied Chemical Engineering Faculty, Hwang Po Byol, a sixth-grade student of Physical Engineering Faculty and Sin Jae Yong, a rector of College of Information and Science and Technology.
