The 28th World Memorizing Contest was held in China from Dec. 4 to 8.
Drawing some 500 top man and woman contestants selected in 40-odd countries and regions including our country, China, India, Mongol, Germany, England and America, it involved a team of 6 students from our country which Jon Kum Phyong, a student of Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Kim Ju Song, a student of Faculty of Electronics of our university took part in.
Jon Kum Phyong and Kim Ju Song received the International Memorizing Master Prizes, top prizes of the world memorizing contest
Their brilliant achievements are giving a great pleasure to all staff and students who turned out in turning our university into prestigious one in the world.

The ceremony was held in the university gymnasium on Oct. 16.
There attended the university’s leading officials, faculty officials and lecturers from 17 faculties, and graduates.
Prior to the ceremony they laid bouquets of flowers before the mosaic portraits of the great leaders and paid homage to them.
President Hong So Hon gave a report on educational affairs.

Congratulatory speeches by Hyon Song Chol, department head of Electric Engineering Faculty and Kim Kwang Song, student of Automation Engineering Faculty followed. In the speeches, they wished all the graduates would add luster to the glory of the country’s eldest son university on every major front of the national economy they would be supposed to be sent to, bearing deep in their minds the pride of being the graduates of KUT, which our Party trusts and holds up most.
After the ceremony, congratulatory performance was staged by the students’ artistic group.

The 5th Students’ Foreign Language Competition was held in the e-library of
This competition was held in Chinese, a second foreign language of the students, drawing 23 students from 21 universities and colleges which won the preliminary competition held in University of Science last July 16th and 17th where about 200 students from 80 odd national universities and colleges of technology, education and teacher training.
It consisted of 5 stages, presentation, interpretation of Korean feature films, singing songs, listening to sci-tech multi-media and interpretation of idioms and proverbs.
Pae Kang Gon, a 4th year student of the Faculty of Automatic Engineering won the first place by getting the highest marks in each stage and Son Kyong Ryong, a 3rd year student of Faculty of IT Science and Technology took the 4th place.
Our students have been raising a fierce flame of studying foreign languages for acquiring more than 3 foreign languages in the university course, bearing in their minds the importance of foreign language study to attain a high knowledge of the modern science.

The National Students Machine Design Competition-2019 was held in Pyongyang University of Architecture from Sep. 23 to Sep. 26.
Ri Yong Jin in the 6th grade, Ri Kwang Guk in the 5th grade, Jang Kang Guk, Pak Kum San in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Mechanical Science &Technology, Kim Chung Jin, Hong Chung Bok in the 5th grade of the Faculty of Mining Engineering, Kim Son Ho in the 5th grade, Hong Kwang Hyok in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Materials Science & Technology, Pak Mun Song in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Metal Engineering won the top grade in the individual and team competition, as a result the university on the top grade in combined record.
To this competition were drawn 280 odd students from 46 technical universities including Pyongyang University of Architecture and Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering.
As in last year the competition was divided into individual and team competitions.
The individual competition was to evaluate the ability to draw within 4 hours the complete product that satisfies the static and kinetic characteristics by drawing and editing the 3-dimensional assembly drawings of mechanical devices available in different fields of the national economy and by inserting the constraint and load characteristics and making 4-dimensional analysis.
Pak Mun Song in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Metal Engineering completed the task assigned 110minutes after it starts, and were followed by Jang Kang Guk in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Mechanical Science& Technology, Hong Kwang Hyok, Kim Son Ho in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Materials Science & Technology, Hong Chung Bok in the 5th grade of the Faculty of Mining Engineering perfectly completed the problems, thus winning the top grade with the highest scores that considered the time up.
The team competition was to perform within 5 hours the large amount of multi-dimensional design tasks including the optimization by MATLAB, simulation optimization design by ADAMS, 3-dimensional modeling of mechanical device and editing of drawings that guarantees the manufacture, operation reliability, control simulation of the whole mechanical device and general architecture and the strength optimization design of parts by SolidWorks, the automatic cost calculation of the entire parts and in particular the analysis of the natural vibration of the general assembly.
Ri Il Myong in the 5th grade, Pak Kum San in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Mechanical Science & Technology, Kim Chung Jin in the 5th grade of the Faculty of Mining Engineering succeeded in completing the 3-dimensional design and highly automatic container transshipment equipment of 220 parts and 82 kinds and the 4-dimensional simulation analysis that is based on simulated machine control, its optimized products and impeccable assembly drawings and the results of the cost calculation after 90 minutes, thereby having the honor of winning the top grade.
Ri Yong Jin in the 6th grade, Ri Kwang Guk in the 5th grade of the Faculty of Machine Science & Technology who prepared the high-level homepage for design competition for its successful performance also won the top grade.
Our University that has won such successive top grades for ten years as last year displayed the powerful ability as the eldest son university.

The Exhibition of Educational & Scientific Achievements was held in the Indoor-stadium of Kim Chaek University of Technology from Sep.26 to Sep.30.
The entire lecturers and students of the university have made brilliant achievements in the scientific research to promote the university educational work and the economic development of the country for a year, bearing in mind the great trust of the respected Comrade
In the exhibition, the textbooks, reference books and education-aid programs and state-of-the art experimental equipments were highlighted, which reflect the world trend of the educational development and educational requirements.
In the exhibition, the scientific research achievements such as the combustion stabilization technology of the pulverized coal boiler in the thermal power station, daylighting system by the solar light induced equipment, unmanned plane for fire protection guiding System, whole direction autoguided vehicle, hologram fan, power generation system using rice hull gas were highly estimated to be practical and of great economic significance.

The 8th National Technological University and College Students’ Quick Remembering Competition was held in the gym of Phyongsong Medical College from 1st to 4th of July.
The competition was held and divided into 16 events such as book reading, remembering and quick counting, drawing 180-odd chosen students from about 40 universities and colleges including
Kim Ju song from Faculty of Electronics won the first place in quick counting, remembering and bookreading, and the 2nd and 3rd places in other 6 events to win the 1st place in a comprehensive way and Jon Kum Phyong and Kim Hye Song from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics were in high ranks and thus our university won the collective special prize.
Particularly, Kim Ju Song from Faculty of Electronics recorded 18 seconds in the 25-sec-card-remembering competition and broke the world record by remembering 5 715 binaries in this competition.
