The competition took place on Sep. 25 to 28 at Pyongyang University of Architecture.
Present in this competition were 270-odd students chosen from 42 technical universities throughout the country including Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Architecture and Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, etc.
It was held individually and in teams. The total scores of universities represented the sum of the individual and team contests.
It went on for 4 days. The students from such faculties and schools of KUT as the College of Mechanical Science and Technology, the Faculty of Metallurgical Engineering, the Faculty of Materials Engineering and the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering won Grand Prix in both contests, which led to the top position of our university.
In the individual contest, where 3D models and assembly drawings and 4D analysis in SolidWorks should be finished within the set time limit, all our students completed the tasks much earlier than the deadline and that absolutely perfectly.
In the team contest, the climax of the competition, they, in groups of three, had such multi-dimensional design tasks as optimization by MATLAB, simulation optimization design by ADAMS, design of ways of simulated control and overall control on mechanical equipment reliable in manufacture and operation, strength optimization design of components by SolidWorks and automated cost calculation of all components. Although the tasks were so laborious and delicate, our students managed to perfectly complete all of them in a short time before other universities.
Therefore, our university won the competition on two successive occasions.
