Ri Yong Ho, the section chief of Ship Engineering Lab and other colleague researchers of the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering designed and made a new plastic fishing boat of high economic efficiency.
This Lab has designed and built the plastic fishing boat which is becoming the global trend with a lighter tonnage, less fuel consumption and longer life than iron ships and wood ships in consonance with the realities of our country by dint of our own strength and technology, thus greatly contributed to the development of the country’s shipbuilding industry.

The 2018 National Sci-Tech Exhibition in the Field of Nano Technology was held at Nano Engineering Institute affiliated to the State Academy of Sciences from Nov. 19 to Nov. 23.
The exhibition was attended by teachers, researchers, postgraduates and officials from scores of units including
Presented to the exhibition, divided into sections of nano measurement and theory department, nano industry and medical department, were a great deal of sci-tech successes and heard 80-odd papers.
A lot of proposals like “Water and Waste-Water Purification System using Nano Compound Material Ozone Generator and Micro Bubble Producer” from the Research Institute of Nano Physics Engineering and “Study on the Manufacture of Nano Aluminium by Chemical Method” from the Faculty of Materials Engineering were highly praised, making KUT selected as one of the top units.

IT successes and products presented by several units including IT Research Institute of Kim Chaek University of Technology were highly appreciated in the 2018 national exhibition of IT successes held in the Three-Revolution Exhibition House from Oct. 15 to 19.
On display there were more than 500 IT successes and products presented by committees, ministries, national institutions, scientific and educational institutions, industrial establishments and IT units. It was held in the forms of exhibition, introduction of new products and presentation of new technologies, and exchange and service of IT.
A lot of significant IT products including software product propagation and protection system, technology of face identification by deep-neural network(심층신경망), and school education level evaluation system presented by several units including IT Research Institute of Kim Chaek University of Technology were highly praised by participants and visitors. Thus this institute was selected as one of the ten top IT enterprises of 2018 at the exhibition again this year.

The 29th national exhibition of IT achievements was held at the Sci-tech Complex from Nov. 7 to 14.
The exhibition is divided into 9 panels including a panel for operating system and information and communication networks, one for artificial intelligence and information processing and one for modernizing and automating production process.
On display at its venue were more than 800 information science and technology achievements.
During the exhibition, program contests such as computer-added designing, machine translation, face identification and speech recognition were held, and lectures on the global trend for the information science and technology development and the IT achievements gained in the DPRK were given.
Kim Chaek University of Technology presented 60-odd valuable proposals that will contribute to the development of our country’s IT to the exhibition and among them over 50 proposals were highly praised.

Research group headed by Dr. Ra Ju Hyon, head of Faculty of Metal Engineering, succeeded in the production of stainless steel on domestic natural resources, thus greatly contributed to the realization of the production of stainless steel Juche-orientated.
Dr. Ra Ju Hyon carried out further research on the production of ferrous-alloys from Nickel and Chrome, which are essential for making all alloys but rare in our country and at last succeeded in the production of ferrous-alloys from domestic resources.
The research group applied new scientific and technological method to produce ferro-nickel and ferro-chrome from domestic raw materials. They made stainless steel melting trial and successfully produced stainless steel of good standard.
Succeeding in the trial production, a real possibility to produce enough stainless steel urgently needed in several fields of the national economy was obtained.

The research team from Metallic Engineering faculty realized the computer-control technology of the high-impedance super-high electric power steelmaking furnace and succeeded in the production process automation factories and enterprises in the metal industry field.
Ambitious for exploiting the cutting edge area of steelmaking-process automation, the research group challenged upon modern steel making technology, which is of great significance in the metal and machine industries.
They developed the system by each level for the control of the workshop, equipment and the program for inspection control designed and manufactured the equipments such as equipments of electrode lifting, power equipments and control board to make a successful computer-controlled trial operation.
They developed the control system software for mould streamline in our own way for trial automatic operation.
With the realization of the computer-control of the high-impedance super-high electric power steelmaking furnace, they have achieved higher level of furnace productivity and vitalized our metal industry.
