Retrospection of Meaningful Day

It was the morning of February 8, Juche 37(1948). In the middle of preparing to head to the military parade venue, President Kim Il Sung told the anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk that it was really a significant and historic day, saying that it was already 16 years since he founded the Anti-Japanese People’s Guerrilla Army in Antu in the uniform that his mother personally made in her sickbed, although he felt as if it happened just the day before. Comrade Kim Jong Suk could hardly repress her excitement. He continued that the backbones of the revolutionary armed forces and rich experience trained and gained during the years of the anti-Japanese armed struggle made it possible to make full preparations for the founding of the Korean People’s Army in time even in the difficult and complicated situations after liberation. Then, he suggested all go to the parade venue to watch the grand parade of our people’s army that would defend the dignity and honour of the nation with arms. Reminiscing about the origin of the regular revolutionary armed forces on the morning of a historic day to shine forever in the history of army building, the President headed towards the parade venue with his wife Kim Jong Suk and little son Kim Jong Il.

Source of Invincible Might

On February 8, Juche 62 (1973) Chairman Kim Jong Il met with a commanding officer of the Korean People’s Army (KPA). Mentioning the meaningful speech made by President Kim Il Sung on revolutionary comradeship in the banquet in celebration of the 25th founding anniversary of the KPA, the Chairman gave him some really precious teachings. The anti-Japanese guerrillas sacrificed their lives to defend the safety of the headquarters in the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, the Chairman said, adding that those days they sincerely held the President in high esteem, not because they foresaw that he would be the state head after liberation but because they were convinced that it was the immutable truth of the revolution that the Korean revolution would emerge victorious only when the revolutionary ranks were firmly united centered on the leader on the basis of one ideology. Noting that since the revolutionary ranks were overflowing with beautiful traits of revolutionary comradeship in the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, the guerrillas could accomplish the historic cause of national liberation by overcoming all kinds of trials and difficulties in the fight against the Japanese imperialists, he stressed that as the President instructed, the unity based on the revolutionary comradeship is the source of invincible might of the people’s army and the guarantee for all victories.

I Will Cover Your Root with My Whole Body

Several years ago, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gave a very meaningful talk in the presence of some officials. Noting that a description of his thoughts and feelings about Kim Jong Il’s patriotism in plain poetic language is “I will cover your root with my whole body”, he said that he loves the song “I will remain your son forever”, which contains a line “I will cover your root with my whole body” because the line reflects a noble thought and feeling for contributing to the prosperity of the country by dedicating one’s all. “I will cover your root with my whole body.” Thanks to the noble outlook on life of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who burns with a desire to dedicate his all to support the motherland like a giant tree just like the leaves that cover the roots even though they are fallen amid the strong wind, our country is growing stronger and the building of a powerful socialist country is being hastened.

True to Lofty Intention

It was one day in January, Juche 101(2012), when the whole country was on the new year’s march for the implementation of the lifetime instructions of Chairman Kim Jong Il. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un called an official to give some instructions on the opening ceremony of Kwangbok Area Supermarket. Noting that the large-scale supermarket would attract a large number of customers and it was located far from the city center, he stressed the need to provide conditions for shoppers to have various kinds of snacks and meals there. Even though he was extremely busy looking after the state affairs when the country had just set on an advance of the year after the sudden demise of the Chairman, his primary concern was directed to the supermarket associated with the Chairman's immortal exploits. That day, he gave precious teachings on conducting well the commerce service activities as wished by the Chairman. Under the great concern and care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to provide our people with wonderful living conditions true to the lifetime intention of the Chairman, Kwangbok Area Supermarket served as a commercial resort for the people from the very first day of its opening.

With a Single Mind and Will

On January 4, Juche 106(2017), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected the newly-built Pyongyang Bag Factory. Receiving the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un at the very beginning of the new year, the factory was full of great excitement and joy. Telling the greeting officials that he was on his way there picturing our children laughing boisterously from and to school with our stylish school knapsacks on their backs, he said that it is very encouraging visualizing them growing vigorously and lively full of pride and self-esteem in our own things. Then, he added that he visited Pyongyang Bag Factory on his first field guidance, which meant his new year’s march started from the work for our children. The officials were really impressed. That day, he earnestly asked the officials and workers of the factory to work well with a single mind and will with the Party Central Committee to make fine quality bags for our children, bearing deep in mind the pride in working at the factory to which the Party attaches importance.

Fur Cap Stuff Delivered as a Souvenir

At the beginning of January, Juche 63(1974), Chairman Kim Jong Il visited a farm in Unchon County. While having a talking with the farmers, the Chairman happened to gaze at the appearance of the farmer whom he met a year before. The Chairman was worried that he had neither an overcoat nor a winter cap on. The Chairman asked him why not. He replied that he had left his overcoat because he was on his way to a meeting, and that he was so full of youthful vigour that he had never had a winter cap yet. Staring at the farmer for a while, the Chairman called an accompanying official and gave him some instructions. After some time, the official returned with stuff for a fur cap. The Chairman gave it to the farmer, telling him to make a winter cap for himself. The farmer was so confused and grateful that he was at a loss what to do with himself. The Chairman persuaded him to accept it as a souvenir of meeting twice in the country, saying that only then he would be pleased. The farmer was so choked with emotions that hot tears were running down silently from his eyes. The Chairman was such a benevolent person.
