Photo Session of That Day

One day in February, 2017, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was inspecting several pieces of equipment newly developed by the scientists and technicians at the State Academy of Sciences. Learning in detail about the specifications of a piece of equipment essential for the living of the people and the soldiers of the Korean People’s Army, he highly praised the scientists and technicians for inventing it better in all aspects than an imported one. Looking round all the equipment once again with friendly eyes, he instructed the officials that the equipment on display should be installed altogether in a certain place for test operation. Then, he said with conviction that when the people benefit from them, they would have dignity and pride in everything of our own. As the equipment was a precious creation symbolic of the dignity and pride in our own things, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was so pleased that he highly praised the scientists and technicians and had a photo session with them.

Reducing 3 Years to 1

One day when the building of regular armed forces was under way with vigor, President Kim Il Sung visited in person the Central Security Officers School. There was a good reason why he visited it before all urgent affairs. At that time, some people asserted that as it took at least 3 years to train military cadres in other countries, it was natural for our country to follow the precedent examples. That was why he managed to find time to rectify their wrong views. That day, having heard different opinions of the teaching staff, he said that we should set the period of military education in keeping with the actual conditions as our country had just been liberated. He added that we should not follow the leisurely examples of 3 or 4 years in other countries, but reduce the training period to 1 year so that we could train military cadres at the earliest date who were urgently needed for the building of regular revolutionary armed forces as required by the prevailing situation. Under the scrupulous guidance of the President, the sons and daughters of common workers and peasants were able to grow up to be fine military commanders in a short span of time.

First Door of New Year is Opened with Science

On January 1st, 2016, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un came to the venue of the inauguration ceremony of the Sci-Tech Complex, a great temple of learning for all the people in the new century. The Sci-Tech Complex, where all the people could acquire knowledge to the fullest measure, was built as a splendid edifice of which we could be proud in the eyes of the world. This was a great victory of the policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), which regards the development of science and technology as an important affair decisive of the victory and failure of the building of a powerful country, and a great event that showed the world the people's strong desire to become the possessor of profound scientific and technological knowledge. He personally cut the inauguration tape and warmly waved back to the enthusiastically cheering crowds. Looking round the complex, he said meaningfully to the officials that this is the great temple of learning for all the people, the base for disseminating the latest science and technology, that embodies the Party's plan, and that the first door of the new year marking the Seventh Congress of the WPK was opened with science.

Shortcut to Building a Talent Power

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un designated the year 2018 marking the 70th founding anniversary of the DPRK as another year of science and education and visited the remodeled Pyongyang Teacher Training College in January. Going round the different places of the college, he gave high appreciation and precious instructions. He told the accompanying officials that although it is important to improve educational conditions and environment in order to build a talent power and an educational power, priority should be given to building up the teacher camp, stressing the need to train many competent teachers by decisively raising the quality of education and edification in the teacher-training institutions. He continued to say that as a well-prepared seed bed can produce good seeds for good fruits, so well-furnished teacher-training institutions can train well-qualified teachers urgently needed for talents training, which is the shortcut to the building of a talent power, an educational power.

Penguin Shed Embossed with Icicles

One day, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected the construction site of the Central Zoo. Going round the zoo, he stopped at the penguin shed. Looking at the shed for a while, he guessed that the front walls of the shed must have been embossed with icicles as penguins inhabit the Antarctic Zone. At his statement, the official who designed it looked up at the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for joy. However, the official wiped the smile off his face immediately because the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was showing a look of discontent. Carefully looking at the white icicle embossment once again, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un told in a low voice the officials with a puzzled look that the caretakers would find it hard to clean the walls. Then, he taught them in detail how to depict the icicles in another way. The officials were deeply impressed. Even though everybody had been admiring the icicle embossment for resembling the real ones, there had been nobody who thought about the trouble the caretakers would have with cleaning the walls. The officials looked up at the boundlessly meticulous father of the people in high esteem.

Delayed Groundbreaking Date

Once the deadline for the construction of Sosong Street (now Chollima Street) was set, the officials of the project headquarters got fretted. The reason lay in the fact that those living in the one-storey houses on the construction site had not yet been dishoused. This resulted in the failure in groundbreaking although it was really challenging to complete the project by the Fifth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea. One day in January, 1970, President Kim Il Sung made a phone call to an official in Pyongyang to ask if the construction of Sosong Street had started. Having been told that the construction project was at a standstill because of the delay of dishousing, the President declared that they should give a start to the project in April. At that moment, the official could not help doubting his own ears. He could not understand why it should be put off for as long as 3 months as there was no time to lose even in the case of the groundbreaking at the beginning of the year. Fathoming his heart, the President warmly explained: Those who are supposed to move to other places in winter will have many difficulties in their lives. We should push ahead with the building of the dwelling houses that began last year so that the dishoused households can move there after completion. After that, we should start the new construction project and we should not violate the Party’s mass line when dislodging the owners. It was not until then that the official grasped the meaningful intention of the President. He found himself so choked that he could not say anything. The official came to realize their fault. Providing the households to be dishoused with temporary rooms for living, the officials had persuaded them to overcome inconvenience for a few months soothing them that they would have better houses. The official said, “President, we were inconsiderate.” Indicating that Korean people found it difficult to live without kimchi, the President said that if they moved in winter, they had to dig large kimchi pots out, which could cause inconvenience and trouble for them. The instruction penetrated in the mind of the official more deeply than hundreds of scolding words. This was how the project finally commenced in spring. They need not have worried about keeping the completion date as miracles and innovations beyond imagination were created day after day as soon as the story of the warmest love for people spread throughout the construction site.
