Great Trust

On September 19, Juche 90(2001), Chairman Kim Jong Il visited Kim Chaek University of Technology and gave instructions on training more and better sci-tech talents who would shoulder the building of a powerful socialist country in accordance with its mission and duty. He also clarified in detail all the issues of improving the education of the university ranging from preparing teaching programs and plans and modernizing the content of scientific and technological education to raising the proportion of application of IT and computers in technological subjects. In addition, he took benevolent measures for building an e-library and a multifunctional gymnasium at the university and for providing with all necessary experimental equipment for scientific research and education, books and vehicles. Some years after that, the Chairman made another visit to KUT. Highly appreciating the university, which was making great contributions to the development of science and technology of the country and to the building of an economic power, he said that Kim Chaek University of Technology is a pedigree for training sci-tech talents and a pioneer of an IT industry revolution in our country.

He Foresees Profound Secret of Heaven

It happened on the day of the Banjiegou Battle. When the sun already set and the darkness of the night set in, President Kim Il Sung soon held a commanders’ meeting and issued battle orders. When the ranks of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army quickly got out of the forest onto Banjiegou Road nearby, hanging in the middle of the sky was a silvery moon. It was shining so bright that even ants were likely to be seen crawling. But the guerrillas were full of dauntless courage, as they realized keenly through practical experiences that the battles organized and guided by the President emerged ever victorious. It turned out they were right. The guerrillas fully prepared for battle were about to go over to the further action when suddenly the bright moon faded away, leaving the world pitch-dark. It was an eclipse of the moon. Being admired by his foresightedness once again, they shouted for joy in mind. The raiding party climbed over the earthen wall swiftly, opened the gate and showered a fire on the enemy’s camps and battery. It was only a few minutes before the battle ended in victory of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army.

Absolutely Intolerable

It was one day in summer, Juche 92(2003). While inspecting a unit of the Korean People’s Army, Chairman Kim Jong Il admonished an official that the catfish farm built by the unit was causing inconvenience to the people who were using the spa. It was absolutely intolerable to the Chairman, who was giving top and absolute priority to the people’s interests and convenience whatever he did. The Chairman told the officials that he was always giving priority to the people’s interests in everything and he regarded people’s joy as his greatest pleasure, adding that people’s pleasure and happiness are just his own pleasure and happiness, which is his firm outlook on happiness and the people. Thanks to the measure of love taken on the spot by the Chairman that day, the catfish farm in the middle of the hot-spring village moved a long distance away.

Newly-equipped Facilities

In the sweltering weather at the end of July, Juche 101(2012), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Rungna People’s Pleasure Park with its completion just ahead. That day looking with satisfaction round the wading pool which would be brimming over with people’s laughter, he was so pleased that the facilities and surroundings were decorated in white, blue and green, making the overall atmosphere around it fresh and clean. Going round the basketball court, volleyball court and beach volleyball court on the roof of the changing room with showers, he expressed great pleasure and satisfaction over the effective use of space and the tremendous change of surroundings. After a moment he instructed that the wading pool should be equipped with an emergency treatment room and an observation post and rescue measures should also be taken. That was how the emergency treatment room and the observation post were added to the wading pool.

Looking at Apples

One day in August, Juche 104(2015), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited a fruit farm that reaped an unusually rich fruit harvest. Learning about the number of apples per tree and the weight for an apple in the orchard, he expressed great pleasure, saying that the trees heavily laden with apples were really spectacular. Noting that the precious efforts of love for the people made by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il all their lives bore fruit, which brought about a rich harvest that significant year marking the 70th anniversary of national liberation and the 70th founding anniversary of the Worker’s Party of Korea, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said he would be really pleased if the President and the Chairman, who were so solicitous for an adequate supply of fruit to the people, could enjoy the scene of apples hanging heavily on the branches. Then, he looked at the delicious-looking apples again and again, saying that he felt happy to picture the people rejoicing at receiving them and just a look at them was enough for satisfaction, and that it was a good sign of prosperity of the country.

Boiled Millet and Cold Cucumber Soup

One day in July, Juche 54(1965), President Kim Il Sung visited a factory. That day the consultant meeting held under the guidance of the President came to an end quite a long time after lunchtime. With a guilty conscience, the officials of the factory told him that lunch was ready at the factory sanatorium.

The President friendly suggested all going for lunch and took the lead. However, he headed towards the hostel, not the sanatorium. The officials became completely puzzled at an unexpected happening. Waiting on a humble table in the hostel was a meager meal with several bowls of boiled millet and cold cucumber soup. The officials were so embarrassed that they did not know what to do. Inviting them to the meal he brought along, the President said that cold cucumber soup was the best for hot weather like that day and boiled millet was just right for the cold cucumber soup.

That night the President recollected what had happened during the day and said he hated being wined and dined.

Indeed, President Kim Il Sung only thought of people without being alienated even a little from them.
