Okryu Restaurant Reopened

It was the tenth day from the day when our people suffered the greatest national mourning. That day Chairman Kim Jong Il called an official on the phone and asked him quietly whether Okryu Restaurant was running as usual.

The official was hung in doubt for an instant. He could not make an answer to such an unexpected question. He had never foreseen that the Chairman could ever ask him about the operation of the restaurant at the time when the whole country was overwhelmed by a sorrow over the loss of the father of the nation.

Reading what he was thinking, the Chairman asked him again to find out if the restaurant was in normal operation. The voice of the Chairman heard over the line was hoarse. When the official equivocated how it was possible to run the restaurant at the time when the whole country was shedding bitter tears, the Chairman disagreed with him, earnestly saying that the greater grief our people were in, the more care the officials should take of them.

That day the Chairman said that we should not be against the will of President Kim Il Sung as he passed away in his office while working for the people all his life. He went on to say that looking round the city in his car, he looked at the bronze statue of President Kim Il Sung on Mansu Hill, where he could still see many people mourning before the statue. Then, he sincerely requested that meals should be arranged for the people weeping in front of the statue at Okryu Restaurant.

The next day, Okryu Restaurant was reopened for the people coming up to the bronze statue of President Kim Il Sung.

Members of Foreign Delegation Shed Tears

In January, Juche 42(1953), President Kim Il Sung met with a delegation from Mongolia at the supreme headquarters.

After the interview with them, he hosted a luncheon and offered them to help themselves to the food as a favor though it was simple due to hard wartime.

It was not a luncheon, but a simple lunch as it was. Deeply moved by his personal character and simple life, they could hardly start eating. At that time, the deputy leader of the delegation slipped from his seat and went out silently. The leader and other members of the delegation were at loss at that unexpected happening against diplomatic customs. The members of the supreme headquarters, not knowing exactly why, followed him out to find him shedding tears holding a tree on the hill.

He said that they highly praised President Kim Il Sung of Korea, who defeated the chieftain of world imperialism, so when they left Mongolia, they thought they would have little chance to meet such a great man in Korea. And he continued as follows:

“We expected President Kim Il Sung would work in a magnificent operation room in a dignified general uniform made of embroidered brocade. So we have never imagined him working in a small farmhouse with low eaves, so small a room in which even the military map had to be kept in several folds, and leading the war like a world war in a discolored uniform with a closed collar.”

Then, he added that he could hardly hold the emotion in check, so he came out of the room though he knew it was against etiquette.

Not only the deputy leader but also all the members of the delegation were so much touched by the noble personality of the President, who was leading a simple and frugal life, that they had tears in their eyes.

Reason for Visit to Revolutionary Site

One day in June, Juche 102(2013), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un paid a visit to Yuphyong Revolutionary Site associated with the exploits of President Kim Il Sung for victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

Looking around the site, he told the officials that they should instill into the hearts of the coming generations where the President had performed a historic miracle by leading the war to victory.

This revolutionary site in the historic place Changsong is where the President stayed only one day in October, Juche 39(1950), but left an unforgettable story.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un told the officials why he visited Yuphyong Revolutionary Site like this:

The purpose of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War in a splendid way is not simply celebrating the day itself but demonstrating to the whole world what a great person our service personnel and people held up as their leader and in what spirit they won the victory in the fight against the allied imperialist forces and honorably defended the freedom and independence of the country.

Standard of Modernization

One day in July, Juche 105(2016), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited a factory.

When he was making rounds of the general control room, one of the officials concerned explained to him about the integrated manufacturing system established at the factory.

Looking at the general interface, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un learnt in detail about the operation of the system. After a little while, he said with emphasis that modernization can prove to be really successful only when it is highly praised by the workers who have operated the equipment.

Looking at the official friendly, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un stressed once again that we should assign a high priority to modernization appreciated by workers.

Ambition Highly Encouraged

On June 6th, Juche 101(2012), the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un attended the joint national meeting of the Korean Children’s Union organizations in celebration of the 66th founding anniversary of the Korean Children’s Union and delivered a congratulatory speech to all the children across the country, and in the afternoon he watched the concert with the representatives of the Children’s Union. Feeling regretful to leave after spending the whole day with them, he called some representatives beside him. Looking at them one by one, who had run to the place at a breath in an ecstasy of joy, he kindly asked a pupil from Janggang County what he was going to be. Expressing great satisfaction at his reply to serve in the Korean People’s Army (KPA) all his life as an officer, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un hoped for the best wishes for his future.

Orphans Should Cut Inaugural Tape

One day in a June, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Wonsan Baby Home, which was nearing completion. Absolutely delighted with the best home in the world to present to the orphans, he wore a smile on his face all the time. Enjoying an overall view of the baby home for a while, he suddenly raised the topic of cutting the inaugural tape. Looking around the officials with inquiring looks, he said that the orphans should cut the ribbon at the inauguration ceremony of Wonsan Baby Home and Wonsan Orphanage. Then, he added that they would never forget the scene of cutting the ribbon of their homes themselves even after they have become grown-ups. Receiving his instructions, the officials keenly realized the great love of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who is so solicitous about bringing up orphans to be the bright future of the country.
